WARNING- EXPLICIT Violence and Sex
Sexy, gritty and raw. Simon Pearce’s Shank is a moving film about coming out and coming of age in working class London.
Stone-faced gang member Cal has drugs, sex and a rowdy gang, led by the delightfully manipulative Nessa, in his life. He shares everything with them, except his secret Internet hookups. Unable to reconcile the growing realization that he’s in love with his mate Jonno, Cal’s dalliances become full of self-hate and violence. No amount of testosterone-filled shirtless cavorting can quench his desires for his mate Jonno, gang leader Nessa’s main squeeze. When the gang happen upon college student Oliver,Cal’s emotions override his code.
He breaks the gang rule and stops their senseless beating of the effeminate man. An unlikely romance blossoms between the shy student and the confused Cal, and he learns to love the emotional and material comfort of Oliver’s way of life.
But the lure of the gang, fueled by Nessa, is never far away. In a shocking finale, each person must stand up for their chosen way of life – knowing that there can only be one winner.
